Rama Variankaval

Rama Variankaval is Global Head of Corporate Advisory & Sustainable Solutions at J.P. Morgan. This group combines the capabilities of Corporate Finance Advisory, Center for Carbon Transition, Sustainable Solutions, and Infrastructure Finance Advisory businesses to help clients achieve their long-term strategic goals through the delivery of holistic advice, capital markets solutions, and targeted capital deployment.

In this role, Rama leads the firm’s efforts in developing and implementing its Paris-aligned financing commitment, and advises large cap and emerging green economy clients on corporate finance topics in the context of low-carbon transition. He also works in partnership with clients across industries on capital allocation and shareholder value creation strategies, as well as other corporate and structured finance solutions.

Rama began his career at J.P. Morgan more than 20 years ago and has served in multiple positions across the firm. He was a founding member of the firm’s Corporate Finance Advisory practice and has led the team since 2017. Rama is currently a member of the Investment Bank’s management team and chairs the Commercial & Investment Bank’s Global ESG forum; he has previously served on Commercial Banking's Balance Sheet committee.

Rama holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in India, an MS in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign and an MS in Statistics and Operations Research from New York University. He is based at the firm’s global headquarters in New York City.
